been possible to support two schools each year. This year's beneficiaries are the Vaazwaham Home for the Visually Handicapped in Jaffna and the Jayasevana Special school in Pita Kotte. Lord Low addressed the meeting and said that he was very pleased with the work undertaken by the Charity to bring hope and help to improve the very desperate circumstances of the majority of the deaf and blind children in Sri Lanka. He expressed his keen interest in the education of these children. Anne East who has had over 35 years experience of teaching the deaf briefed the meeting on the work she has been undertaking in Sri Lanka. Anne has been responsible for training teachers at the Rohana School in Matara and through her untiring efforts has helped to raise the standard of this school to be a model for all other deaf and blind schools in Sri Lanka. DABAL supported this school in 2007 as its chosen charity.
