Deaf and Blind Aid Lanka Ushers in the Christmastide - 20th November 2011

The members and friends of Deaf and Blind Aid Lanka (DABAL) ushered in the Christmastide on Sunday 20th November. The event was well organised by the vicechair Mrs. Nadani Welikala. The members and friends of DABAL enjoyed the food and the freshly prepared mulled wine. There was also a stall of good quality clothing and handbags at remarkably competitive prices.
The Christmas music was ably provided by Mrs Brenda Pottle and the gathering thoroughly enjoyed singing Carols heartily. The gathering also enjoyed the keyboard playing of Mr Jeva Thevathason. Towards the end of the afternoon additional musical entertainment was provided by the professional musical artiste Mr. Saliya Salgado. The Chairman, Mr. Sarath Weerasingh e thanked all who attended the event and thanked all those people who had supported the deaf and blind children of Sri Lanka
over the years. DABAL has so far supported nine deaf and blind schools in Sri Lanka. He mentioned that Price Waterhouse Coopers of Sri Lanka had started their project in costing the five long-term aims of DABAL that were triggered by the needs analysis. He added that DABAL would be in a position to take its next major steps in helping the deaf and blind children when the project was completed by Price Waterhouse Coopers within the next few months.
